I may read books on the Kindle app on the iPad, but I don't think I would start buying books from the iBook store. I don't want half my library on one platform/DRM and half on another. Besides the eye strain with LCD, there is also the power issue. With the latest Kindle firmware, the battery lasts a ridiculously long time. I don't want to have to plug the iPad in every night like my iPhone.

I'll think we'll see added features to the existing readers and new deals cut with publishers across the board. Amazon has already announced the SDK and app store for Kindle, and changed their royalty structure. Others will follow, I'm sure.

You're so right about Apple's problem of never being able to live up to its own hype. You bring up an interesting point about its place in the Kindle world. Being a Kindle owner, do you see yourself reading books on the iPad? The one thing that will keep me using the Kindle is the e-ink. There's really no comparison for long stretches of reading. LCD can be a real strain on the eyes.

Do you think this will drop prices on the Kindle, Nook, and e-Reader?
